This sequence change replaces glycine, which is neutral and non-polar, with arginine, which is basic and polar, at codon 179 of the SLC35C1 protein (p.Gly179Arg). This variant also falls at the last nucleotide of exon 1, which is part of the consensus splice site for this exon.
